スリッパ
スリッパに関するネタが何かないかとネットを見ていたらNHK WORLD JAPAN がスリッパについて発信していた。

Japan’s first slippers were actually worn over the top of shoes! They were designed in the late 19th century for foreigners unused to removing outside footwear when inside. The Japanese upper class were the first local adoptees, using them in Western-style homes. After World War II, the practice became widespread. Japan has several rules for slippers. You cannot wear them on tatami, or flooring where you sit. There are special ones for the toilet and for school, and hospitals often supply shared ones, made from an antibacterial plastic material. People even wear slippers at work!
